Portraiture Workshop Team

Though the workshop was about classical portraiture techniques, it didn't remain restricted to just that. Participants experimented with the naturally available light (e.g. North Window light), and achieved some dramatic results - both, in terms of learning, as well as some stunning pictures. While I am posting 1-2 of those now, stay tuned for some more stunning work over the next couple of days!

Nikon-Abraxas Fashion & Architecture Workshop at Neemrana Fort concluded on Saturday, the 21st. And boy... was this workshop hectic!

Nikon representatives, the participants, the organisers, the mentors, the models, the stylist, the make-up artists and the support team - all braved the heat, humidity, dust storm, hail storm and rain in the quest to spread and share photographic learning.

The bags are packed; the models & make-up artists have been tied up; wardrobe has been styled; the equipment is in place; liquor has been bought; the prizes & certificates have been organised; vehicles have been tuned; camera batteries are charged; flash memory cards formatted; and, soul and spirit all charged-up! All in all, all set for the workshop!

Burger, Fries and Coke

The workshop concludes. And all participants carried home a 'Burger, Fries and Coke' shot and a 'Chilled Beverage' shot. These seemingly simple shots had complex lighting - e.g. in the 'Chilled Beverage' shot, one dedicated light was used to just light up the little sprig of fresh mint (Pudina)!

Some of the participants had worked with lights for the first time. They acknowledged having understood the basics of the role lights play in creation of highlights in Food Photograhy!

Here's the headline: The participants created what all needed to be kept in mind while doing food photography - right from the texture, to the temperature of the food, must be evident in the shot. Right at the start, they shot some fruits (see sample pictures alongside).

A saddle for creating shooting surface, a milky-white translucent acrylic sheet, a glass top, a ply board, 73 ingredients / props, a laminate, a multi-media projector, 6 lights, 3 honeycombs, one strip and 3 standard 60cmx60cm soft boxes, 8 stands... No, we aren't shooting an automobile... it is just a cold beverage :-)

The next day and a half is going to be exciting for the workshop participants, we promise.
